2018 Elk River Valley

The 45th running of the Elk River Valley was a success. Everyone enjoyed the routes (12, 52 and 75 miles) and this year’s introduction of a food truck was hugely popular.

There were around 60 riders for the September 8th ride. In addition to HRBike members, we hosted riders from Murfreesboro, Veloteers, Columbia and other bike clubs. There were several tandems and a few recumbent riders.

A number of riders returned telling us how much they loved the route and appreciated the road markings. Several told us they stopped mid-route to take photos. Also, many of the cyclists had lunch together at West Middle after the ride compliments of the CW Concessions food truck. Continue reading

2017 ERV Ride

The 44th running of the Elk River Valley was a success. As far as we know everyone enjoyed the routes (12,52 and 75 miles) and no one was hurt. However, Mica Jon was “tackled” by a playful black lab and went down; he says he is fine but his bike was injured pretty badly.

There were around 65 riders for the September 9th ride. In addition to HRBike members, there was a huge contingent from the Murfreesboro Bike Club, a few Veloteers’, several from the Columbia Bike Club and one or two from other clubs.

Due to the way the registration was managed, we also have several new members: 4 families and 9 individuals. The combination of HRBike memberships and sale of HRBike merchandise helped us to come out in the black. Continue reading

ERV100, September 9, 2017

The first Elk River Valley 100 in 1974 was a big club ride and it was FREE. For 2017 we’re going to do the same thing! No fee so none of the usual amenities but some of the finest cycling around.

The ride will start at West Middle School in Tullahoma at 8 am, on September 9. There are 3 great routes-75 mi with Monteagle mountain, 52 mi no mountain, and a 12 mi laid back route; each include store stops where you can purchase snacks. Thanks to Paul Schwer, Grady Wells and Tim Harrison for the routes.

Additionally, the ERV 100 will be limited to HRBike Club members or members of other participating bike clubs. We’re not trying to be exclusive it’s just a restriction placed on us by our insurance. The ERV website has the updated routes, registration and more.

Hope to see ya there!
