What are you thankful for?

This month we celebrate Thanksgiving. During this time we like to focus on the things for which bike-freedomwe are thankful. Relationships with our families and friends are probably on the top of this list, and because this is a bike club newsletter, most likely cycling is way up on the list of things you are thankful for too.

So many of you have shared your love of cycling with your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and have helped them to find what they enjoy most about this sport. Recently, a really amazing way of helping folks to get interested in using and enjoying bikes came across my desk…

HRBike member, Chris Calatrello is helping some of his clients by getting them road worthy bikes to serve their basic needs for transportation. Chris, has started a crowd-funding campaign to raise money to buy bikes, components, safety equipment, etc., for his community mental health services clients. Continue reading

The Ride of a Lifetime, Part 2

On August 12, 2016, HRBike member, Jim Herron conquered the 4,567 mi. Trans-Am bike trek. In a previous article, we learned Jim’s inspiration, training & best experiences. To conclude the emotionaljimconversation…here’s more from Jim:

What is the worst time you had? Admitting I was really sick and needing to stop in Falls of the Rough, KY, on 4/20, was the worst feeling. Thank goodness I recovered by June and was ready to get back out there. As far as on the road, I only had one verbal altercation with a coal truck in Chester, IL; otherwise, the roads and the drivers were as good as one could hope.
