Spring Rides Begin

It seems spring has been long in coming this year, and now, the regularly scheduled HRBike rides are resuming as weather permits. In the photo, notice the blooms on the trees and the long pants and long sleeves on these riders; there is still a bit of wind and chill to deal with so be sure to check the weather before you set out. Below are club rides that are resuming, please check the HRBike calendar for details. Want to add a ride to the list…email Ride Captain Denny Elston or Pres. Tim Harrison.
The longest standing ride for our club, the Tuesday Night Social Ride, is back in swing. Joe Capezza leads these short, moderately paced rides from Frazier McEwen Park on Tuesday nights at 5:30 pm, weather permitting. The spring rides may be shorter due to the lack of daylight so it is good way to start riding again after the winter break and a great way to work your way up to longer rides as the weather gets warmer.
The Shootout led by Mica Jon Dykes meets on Tuesday at Beechcraft Museum on Hwy 130. Wheels are on the ground at 5 pm sharp. This ride is for experienced cyclists who race themselves, one another, or the clock. These guys cover a lot of road in a short time; if you get dropped, you get to ride back to town on your own. It is great training ride for those who race.
The Over the Hill Gang has the flexibility of riding when the weather is best. The rides are usually on Monday, Thursday & Saturday during the prime riding season. The group likes hills and usually averages in the 13-16 range, sometimes breaking up into faster and slower groups. Dave Bond is the ride leader.
Saturday Club Rides resume soon. Weekly rides vary in distance, pace, and route. It is great when members step up and offer a variety of ride lengths and types to cover the many abilities of cyclists in our club and community. If you would like to lead a ride, contact Ride Captain Denny Elston or President Tim Harrison and they will get the ride on the HRBike calendar.
