Club Minutes
Minutes of the January 23rd 2025 Winter club meeting were submitted by our secretary Lana Sain. Attendance was Hunter Norris, Stuart Jennie Coulter, Joe Maxine Capezza, Dave Bond, Chris Porter, Dennis Lankford, and Scott Grissom. Treasurer Chris Porter reported on our financial status, including info that we had 51 members in 2024. The 2024 ERV had 157 registrants: 17 HRBC members rode and 15 HRBC members volunteered. This meeting is the spring meeting dated April 24th 2025.
Vice President Report:
Michael Roberts posted a Motobecane Mule Kick Pro eBike for sale on our website for Joe Capezza. Michael has been posting club minutes on the website too.
Ride Captain Report:
Denny Elston is our ride captain again for 2025 presented his involvement in the upcoming Horton 100 and the Brat at Montgomery Bell State Park. He did mention the Strolling Jim Run Saturday May 3rd 2025 that he leads a support ride. Joe Capezza has been hosting the Social rides on Tuesday evenings this year and touched on the new date for the 2025 Jack/Back as well as Senior Olympics. Stuart Coulter has started a new Medium Speed Social Gang MSSG that usually finishes with conversation at Celtic Cup Coffee House . Michael Roberts has done a great job merging the OTHG email list on the MSSG list making the rides available to both groups. Hunter has been posting all rides on the calendar with the absence of Lana Sain. Denny mentioned that a concise description of the ride on the calendar would be helpful.
Treasurer Report:
Chris Porter gave our financial report and report on exciting new plans for the 2025 ERV100 which includes the Pedal for Alzheimer’s choosing to make the ERV100 part of their Tennessee Fondo Tour along with their ride in Knoxville. Chris encouraged all to mention on their rides about membership to other cyclists. He said he would make available the members from 2024 that are delinquent for 2025.
Chris mentioned that the financials are virtually the same as the last meeting with the exception of now having 33 (25 individual & 8 family) paid members.
Old Business:
2025 HRBC Membership drive has started! Tullahoma Post Office Box 1752 or Paypal. Our dues typically cover the essential costs of the club so they are very important. Membership is $25 individual and $30 family.
Spring Adopt-A-Highway was well attended April 13th 2025 by club members Denny Elston, Tim Harrison, Stuart and Jennie Coulter, Joe Capezza, and Hunter Norris. 12 bags of trash were collected from Highway 130 from Wilson Avenue to the Moore County line. Tim found the most unusual piece of trash…a fence post. The club wished Jeff Albro a speedy recovery!
New Business:
Joe Capezza needs volunteers to help with the Recycle Program at West Middle School as he has the dates scheduled on Mondays and Thursdays for the next month 2:45-4:15 at West Middle School. Tools and equipment provided by Joe. He has 10 children scheduled to recycle a bike of their own with a helmet, water bottle, and road computer.
Stuart Coulter is presiding over our new Advocacy Committee with additional members Joe Capezza and Hunter Norris. There have been 3 meetings in February, March, and April. He is concerned we will have to travel to sites out of Tullahoma to begin our rides with the increasing traffic, rough roads, and lack of adequate space for road cycling. We would like to add more volunteers as we near our goal of presenting our improvement ideas to the Board of Mayor Alderman. Denny Elston was added as a member of the committee. Monday April 28th 2025 10am the committee will meet with the Tullahoma financial executive and codes director at City Hall.
