I do not have a color preference, but I agree with the circle/arrow blaze. I also told Geody I would assist with the ERV course marking next year. I promise there will be an abundance of road blazes well in advance of every turn, intersection, etc. to notify even the fastest riders imaginable!

What do you guys think about separate colors? The hundred and the metric onto color, the fifty another, ect… so you just remember your color… also there would be a numerical mileage designation under each one when they overlap just in case you forget, but it might make faster recognition times. What do you think?

awesome thinkin bro!!! that would be awesome and you wouldnt have to take up so much of the road writing all the numbers. just let it be known what the color is to everyones route and give them turn by turn directions and let it start poppin.

I like the idea of different colors. The 2011 CRAM did this and it worked well. Of course they didn’t do a real good job describing what the colors meant but we will right! :|

It is really cool that you all are getting into helping with the Elk River Ride. Since you have ridden a lot of century rides you probably have a lot of ideas for this job. It is an important job for sure. Some people choose to ride alone and a lot of people don’t get maps before they take off on the ride. I’ve offered a map when they register and they ask if the road is marked. When I say yes, sometimes they choose not to take a map. It is great that you all have so much energy, I’m sure you will do a fabulous job marking the routes. And, with so many helpers, no one will have to do too much. I love this community we are developing amongst ourselves.

I’d like to offer some considerations regarding individual colors for each route.
PRO: Probably the best for keeping on the proper route.
CON: A LOT more work and paint. Many corners will have all four sets of colors. (Don’t forget, all corners will have one or more sets of approach arrows and one set of continuation arrows.)
Messy appearance with the several colors. May attract the unwanted attention of cops. This is a major problem in metro areas but so far we have not irritated the law.
